Brazil

Brazil is located in South America, and forms borders with almost every nation of the continent except Chile and Equator. It was colonised by Portugal in the 16th Century and Portuguese, the official language, is spoken throughout the country (it's the only Portuguese speaking country in South America). The climate varies from hot and dry in the arid core to the hot, humid tropical rainforests of the Amazon jungle. Due to its immense size, Brazil supports many different ecosystems, which sustain some of the world's greatest biodiversity; thousands of species of fauna & flora remain undiscovered. Brazil is known for its Carnival celebrations, usually referred to as Mardi Gras, it's an annual celebration held 40 days before Easter. Within Brazil it has distinct regional variations, however, all celebrations are public and usually involve street parties and dressing up…And of course there's football, the game is deeply ingrained into Brazilian life!
