Cuba The stunning island of Cuba is the largest of the Caribbean islands and is situated between the Caribbean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean. Also growing in number is the number of tourist resorts and hotels and the country is becoming increasingly tourist-friendly. Cuba, Caribbean Holiday Review - Cuban delight

We arrived at the hotel after a 9 and a half hour flight to a very warm welcome - we were greeted by cocktails and dancers. Our cases got took to our room so we had chance to explore the resort. The grounds are beautiful and the gardeners are very friendly, most mornings picked me a flower. Our room in block 2 was quite big and clean, our fridge got stocked daily with beers, soft drinks and water.
The food was hit and miss, but there was always something for everyone, I would highly recommend the italian and the romantica resturant, they were lovely!!!
The beach is amazing, the water is so clear and the sand is like powder, by far the best beach i have ever seen. The beach bar does really nice panini's to, there was only one day we seen jellyfish on the beach but no one got stung.
The staff cant do enough for you, they are so friendly and always happy to stop and chat. We didnt give tips everyday and recieved the same service to when we did give tips. The animation team and professional dancers work so hard even though the evening entertainment can be a little repetitive, but they did put on good shows.
We went on the dolphin trip which we did enjoy, however its a long drive there, We also went on the catamaran which was fantastic, it was a free bar and we got lunch inc, we got to interact with the dolphins again and go snorkelling, it was a brilliant day out and well worth the money.
Overall we had a great holiday and would definately go back to melia las dunas.

Cuba, Caribbean Holiday Review - Why did I Wait So Long?

For years I have been told that I must travel to Cuba because it is a holiday paradise. It was only until recently that I had the desire to go. Three days into the holiday I kicked myself for not coming sooner. Where do I begin? Hmmm?I chose Havana because it was the place that I knew most about and the one that was recommended for a first time experience. The airport was a good size and it only took me 20 minutes to get through customs (I have waited in lines of over an hour before). The Hotel Raquel was very spacious and well maintained. The bathroom was a god size and one bed could hold a family of four. I had a wardrobe, table, chairs, couch, desk, and internet plug ins. Members of the staff walked right up to me by the pool or in the lobby and asked me if I needed anything, like a free drink. I did not like the reception staff at the front desk. They were somewhat rude and gave the impression that they had better things to do than to check me in but the other members of the staff made up for them.
I have had Cuban food before but not like this. The spices and the boldness made my tongue dance. I had chicken, beef, fish, rice, pasta, and endless baskets for real Cuban bread. I had flan and tried Cuban soda; even sweeter than the soda from home. I thought that it would be hard to enjoy night time fun by myself but I made friends with many of the guys at the clubs and bars. And it was a good thing that I like to dance because the women were incredible dancers. For water fun outside of the beach, I went to Catamaran to snorkel. I will be returning soon.
