Djerba Djerba is an island found in the south-east of Tunisia near the Gulf of Gabes. Houmt Souk is the capital city, which is really close by. Djerba has miles of clean sandy beaches, many luxury hotels and Roman sites. The apirates castle along with the ancient synagogue of the Griba, and a lot of traditional mosques are also found. International flights to Djerba are available from many European cities which makes it convenient for exploring the south of Tunisia. If your plans are to go and visit Lybia Djerba, than this would be your easiest and cheapest way of getting there.
While on holiday in Djerba you can experience the historic charm of the place in the near village of Er Riadh with its cobbled streets and tiny courtyards filled with bougainvillaea and cacti.

Djerba is made up with of a collection of villages each is a little different so make sure you explore as many as you can. You will find a lot of souks where you can pick up some real neat little trinkets as souvenirs. There are many old buildings to see and you will meet a very diverse range of people from the local Tunisians to Libyans.

I never thought that my holiday to Djerba would have such an impact on how I choose my holidays. Djerba was not my idea and I was pretty much forced to go there but boy am I glad that I went. The city is fantastic and I couldn't believe how beautiful everything was and the weather was splendid. Djerba has got some of the best beaches anywhere in Europe and the water sports are a lot of fun. The food in any of the restaurants tastes so fresh that the fish could quite easily been caught a few minutes before they arrive on your plate. Absolutely brilliant!
