Gambia Gambia, in the Gambia River Valley of West Africa, may be the smallest country on the mainland continent but it has large appeal for travellers. Only 6 hours away from major European cities, it allows for easy travel to a different continent and unique culture. English is the official language, making exploration of the country much easier. To the West you will find the North Atlantic Coast, and the rest of the country runs loyally along the Gambia River valley. Although Banjul is the capital it's quite small and not exactly bustling, making it the perfect place to experience what Africa of Old was like. Visit the Abuko Nature Reserve to see crocodiles or monkeys, go on a river tour from Denton Bridge or try a coastal excursion. The currency is Gambian Dalasi.
