Halkidiki

Halkidiki is a prefecture in northern Greece; it is made up of a large peninsula in the Aegean Sea, which resembles a hand with 3 'fingers' Pallene, Sithonis and Agion Oros, which is home to Mount Athos and its monasteries. Halkidiki's main attractions are its beautiful beaches, it boasts some of the finest beaches in Greece. Villages in the area are picturesque and most maintain a traditional way of life, pop into a taverna and sample one of the many local savoury specialities, such as, the potato dish Papas Arrugada.
