Aswan

Situated in the south of Egypt conveniently located on the east side of the Nile the whole area is easily manageable on foot. The view of the Nile from Aswan is said to be the most beautiful part of the river as it flows through the desert and gives of a radiant glow. Aswan is a traditional town with a real Egyptian feel with long lines of bazaars along Corniche where you can buy all sorts of trinkets. The town has a very calming and serene feeling which is what attracts those who want to unwind and detach themselves from everything else. There are a number of great attractions in the town like the Unfinished Obelisk along with and unfinished colossus which is half buried in sand. There are also some really good museums and Cemeteries that will tell you stories of the time of the Pharaoh's.

What a fabulous holiday cruising down the nile and stopping off at several places of interest along the way. The views were amazing. Lots of temples and my favourite place was the valley of the kings. I would reccommend this holiday to anybody.

Aswan, Egypt Holiday Review

Date of travel: 11-September-2006

I spent 2 weeks in Egypt and Aswan was definitely the most relaxing resort I stayed in. THe Nubian museum is so interesting. I'm really into egyptian history so spent a whole day there! Also plenty of Nubian villages from ancient times to nose around. There are temples and souks to visit and the nile was right on our doorstep. We hired a boat and spent a day just drifting. If all you want from a holiday is sun sand and sangria then go to the costa del sol... Aswan is so much more!
