Izmir Resort Izmir, situated in the Aegean province, is Turkey's third largest city and home to its second most important port. Izmir is attracting increasing numbers of tourists and although it is a modern and rapidly developing city, it still manages to retain traces of its ancient past. Visit the Anglican church, famed for its wood carvings and windows or, for those looking for something livelier, visit the Barlar Sokagi (Street of Bars), which is home to many bars and restaurants, many of which are converted old houses.

Izmir Resort, Izmir, Turkey Holiday Review - Basic stay for a good price

Stayed in the Guzel Izmir hotel for 5 nights. It was very basic but had a great Turkish appeal and was quite cheap. The staff was nice and understood the meaning of good service. Communication was a bit difficult because barely any English was spoken. The hotel was clean (for the most part) and provided towel and flats to walk around the bathroom. It is an old building which is reflected in the bathrooms and lobby but was maintained very well. It was only 12 minutes walking to the waterfront and shorter distances to shops and pubs. The hotel had a limited menu but all was very cheap as well. Only downside was the men hanging around the street in the Barber shops but they only stared at us when we passed, not speak to us.
