Rethymnon Rethymnon is the most traditional spot of Crete Island. Smaller than the nearby resort of Chania, Rethymnon boasts an impressive blend of old and modern architecture with Turkish and Venetian houses, being its landmarks the Venetian harbour and the fortress. Turkish mosques and ancient church can be also discovered during a pleasant stroll by its old streets.
The city has an endless golden beach where is easy to practice different water sports or just relaxing getting a good tan. A good range of bars and restaurants will delight every tastes and pockets.

Rethymnon, Crete, Greece Holiday Review - For the older Crowd

Rethymnon is ideal for older couples. My parents traveled there to celebrate 42 lovely years together and they said it was the perfect pace for them. Being rich in history of over 1000 years they entertained themselves by taking tours and visiting the museums. For eats and conversation they went to the centre where the joined other couples to discuss the younger days and the tragedies of these times (better other couples than me!). They told me that the environment was quite lovely and relaxing and that it was very interesting to learn about the history of the place that they were visiting today. I saw pictures and became fascinated with the beauty and historical sights.
