Rhodes Town On the northern coast of Rhodes, we can find the Capital city of this island, Rhodes Town. This place is famous around the entire world because it was one of the “Seven Wonders of the World”, with the giant statute Colossus of Rhodes, an imposing statue in honour if the Greek god Helios with more of 100 meters high, which was destroyed by a earthquake in the 224 BC. But today miles of visitors come to Rhodes Town for many reasons, its amazing beaches, its lovely parks, many interesting museums and art galleries, its streets, its culture, its edifices and buildings, the fine selection of cuisine in its restaurants and taverns… And by night, if you need some fun, don't miss the lively nights of this stunning town.

Divided into the new town and the old town, Rhodes Town is a wonderful place with great contrasts, the old town is a very popular attraction and is enclosed by stone walls where you will find a lot of the shops housed in the old buildings and there a few museums which will have a historical tale to tell about the town. The new town is much more contemporary and is buzzing with life but you better do you?re shopping early as the city winds down for a Siesta in the afternoon for a few hours before roaring back to life in the early evening. Don?t get carried away with shopping on the main street as the prices can be pretty high so make sure you look around. Rhodes town was also home to one of the ancient wonders of the world, the Colossus of Rhodes which used to be on the port.
