Turgutreis, Bodrum Peninsula, Turkey Holiday Review - Not So Great

Just came back from Turgutreis and write now to report that it was an ok holiday. The resort itself was small and basic. I guess that they were doing renovations while tourists are there but it would have been much better to do the resort makeover before we came so that we could have a better time. It is not fair that we are expected to put up with rubbish on the street simply because it will one day look better. At least our hotel was quite clean and quiet and the area around it was well maintained as well. It was in a good position as it was only a short walk into Turgutreis and around that around there was plenty to do if you are accustomed to be active at night. In Turgutreis itself the nightlife was nothing to clap about. But the resort did offer good food and quick attentive service. I feel that the resort will be perfect in the future when the additions arrive and they add more to do at night and in other ways of entertainment. Good place for the family especially if your children love to jump on trampolines or like to see real camels.

Turgutreis, Bodrum Peninsula, Turkey Holiday Review - Could Have Been Better

Turgutreis was not a good holiday site for the family. The beach was covered in pebbles instead of sand so it was very painful when trying to reach the water. A towel did not serve as comfort enough for your bum or those of the children so we had to rent beach chairs. Children do not enjoy sitting on chairs over playing in the sand. The beach was quite dirty and narrow as well. We saw plenty of dogs and cats roaming around freely, all of which left small presents everywhere after they ate. My husband and I did not have much time on the water because the wind blew too strong on some days. When the wind blew strong a red flag went up and visitors were restricted from the sea. Our hotel staff was very friendly but the food did not sit with any of us well. The taste was bad and left your stomach rumbling. We found better food in town with prices less expensive than in the restaurant. The harbor was a constant bustle but with enough room and selection to go around. This made it our most frequently visited place. It had places where the children could play games and buy cheap toys. We also took a ?10 each boat ride that lasted all day. My husband and I enjoyed the most and all day but the children grew restless towards the evening time.
