India-Mainland Holiday Review - So Little Time!
Submitted by: Lyndsey

Spent a month in India last year. Flew into Mumbai. Heard lots of bad reports about Mumbai. Smelly, too busy, but once you break the surface its one of the most vibrant, exotic and fascinating places in the world. Chowpatti Beach, Elephanta Island, Lokandwala Market, Marine Drive (Dome bar on top of Intercontinental is a must - stunning views over the bay). Then flew down to Kerala which was just amazing! Ayurvedic massage is awesome. Had one nearly everyday! Beaches are pristine and people are so friendly. Less overrun and developed than Goa. India is so huge I feel like I've only just skimmed the surface! will def be back again!

India-Mainland Holiday Review - Hard to get Alcohol
Submitted by: Ketan
Date of travel: 02-March-2006
I visited the State of Gujarat last year and was very surprised to learn that it is a dry State which means that alcohol is not sold in normal shops and as freely as it is over here. Anyway alcohol aside I stayed in the city of Ahmedabad which is a very rapidly developing city and there are some really nice temples to see. Shopping was very cheap and you can get good quality clothes for a fraction of the price of what we would pay here. Make sure you stay away from the street food vendors although the food looks delicious, it will make you very ill if you eat it especially where they use water to make the food, only drink bottles water!
