Dog Sleigh Ride In Lapland

Dogs can travel up to 30km per hour and cover a surprising
distance. No experience is necessary to have a go at dog sledding,
as guides will teach you everything you need to know including
how to handle a dog sleigh. Your dog sledding adventure can
be a one hour tour or an overnight expedition, it's up
to you!
No surprise it's going to be cold so it's important
to make sure that you're properly prepared for the weather.
Temperatures can drop as low as -20 °C so make sure that
you're dressed warmly (see What to wear in Lapland guide).
A dog sled is a sled which is pulled by one or more dogs over
snow or ice. There are numerous different sleds: basket sled,
sprint sled, toboggan sled and freight sled - which is used
depends on their function.
There are lots of places where you can go dog sledding in Lapland,
however, trips are restricted to the winter months.
Dog Sledding Lingo – the most common
commands are:
Easy: Slow down.
Gee: Turn right.
Haw: Turn left.
Hike: Get Moving.
Mush: Get Going - Hike is most commonly used.
On By: Go by another team or other distraction.
Whoa: Stop.
