Alvor This ancient village on the Portuguese southern region of the Algarve is picturesque coastal resort, less commercialised than others in the area and keeping its charming structure of narrow streets. In many of these streets you can find different restaurants and lively bars. In Alvor and its surrounding areas there are a great number of excellent beaches and coves where you can relax and lay under the sun all day long, enjoy all kind of water activities or contemplate the incredible natural beauty of its scenery. You can also visit the commercial town of Portimao which is extremely close to Alvor.

We spent two week in Alvor and although the weather was a bit chilly we had a lovely time. We liked the fishing village part of Alvor and the beautiful beach even in winter. The buses were good to get about and we found plenty to do. Plenty of places to eat and the people were nice. We can't wait to go back.

I highly recommend Alvor for a fun holiday especially after i had such a great time there last year. There is a very long beach with lots of golden sand facing the pristine waters which tempt you to go into the sea. There is a vibrant night life with some very different clubs and bars which gives you a lot of options so you're not doing the same type of hing every night. Make sure you make a stop at Boolans which is a Brazilian bar that is very popular. The sea food is delicious at Alvor and the people are very friendly and helpful.

I stayed in Alvor for a week last summer and I can tell you it was absolutely boiling, don’t get me wrong I am not complaining I would rather that weather than the kind we have had this so called summer. Anyway back to Alvor, although it was hot we made the best of the great weather and messed around the beach playing volleyball and soaking up the sun. We also went to the harbour and did some snorkelling which was fun as I had never done that before. The evenings are really exciting in Alvor and I really recommend a bar called Venure I think that is how you spell it but I am sure you will find it as there are not many bars that begin with v. I will definitely be going back there next year as I couldn’t make it this year.
