Slovenia![]() Not many countries can boast Blue Flag Adriatic beaches as well as snowy Alps, but Slovenia carries it off. Located between Italy and Croatia, this country was formerly part of Yugoslavia until 1991. It has been steadily gaining popularity with travellers due to its beautiful fairytale landscapes, friendly locals and diverse terrain. Places of interest include Postojna Cave, the beautiful white horses of Lipica near the Italian border, scenic Lake Bled, the stunning Triglav National Park and more. Slovene is the national language and the Slovenian Tolar is the currency, at least until they adopt the Euro in January 2007. |
