Nerja Nerja was a normal town till 1959, when the impressive Nerja Caves were discovered. The Caves are nowadays the 3rd main attraction for tourist in Spain! (First one is Prado Museum and Alhambra Palace is the second one). Nerja is only 50 km from Malaga City, and has modern communications infrastructures, making it an easy travel from anywhere. Its 10 excellent beaches are long and aren't too crowded. The one most visited is the Buriana Beach, it has good quality sand and wide range of tourist services (Nautical Rents, Help Service, Disabled Access, Showers), the Beach receives the Blue Flag each year. You also can enjoy the beautiful scenery near the cliffs, in Maro town.

Nerja, Costa del Sol, Spain Holiday Review - Caves and things

The caves near Nerja are amazing! Similar to the ones in Gibraltar which is driving distance and worth a visit too! You can hear water trickling everywhere and its the thousands of years of trickling that have carved these caves. Really spectacular when all lit up. The beach is pretty standard (sun sand water - what more do you need!) and the local shops and restaurants are in abundance. Great place to relax and experience the costa del sol.
