Corralejo Once just a tiny fishing village on the north coast of Fuerteventura, Corralejo has been put on the tourist map because it offers one of the island's main attractions, the 'Oasis de Los Camellos' zoo offering parrot shows, horse rides and camel safaris. The harbour town now receives hundreds of visitors drawn to soak up the Canarian sunshine. Luckily, Corralejo has managed to retain its original charm and atmosphere. Most of the shops, bars and restaurants are along the main street and the harbour which looks across the other side of town and the sand dunes. The waterfront promenade flanking the small, sheltered town beach boasts numerous restaurants, some of which serve up Canarian cuisine and fresh seafood. Among the activities to keep holidaymakers busy are a variety of watersports, tennis, glass-bottom boat trips, ferry trips to Lanzarote, jeep safaris, island tours, mountain biking and motorcycle tours.

Corralejo, Fuerteventura, Spain Holiday Review - Sun Surf Sangria!

I went to Fuerteventura with a friend a few years ago. We were still at uni then and looking for a bit of fun and a break from reading and revising! And we got exactly that! We stayed at the Dunas Hotel in Corralejo. Their Luna bar is friendly and cheap but was a bit too family friendly for us. The pool was nice and the gym. But the real fun was to be had in the town just a short walk away. The seafood, the cheap alcohol and the REALLY lovely local people made our holiday!
The great thing about Fuerteventura is it's not as developed as the other canary islands. We were able to drive out to the sand dunes in the middle of the night and see shooting stars. And the surfing in fantastic! You can get a boat from Corralejo to Lobos Island which I highly recommend. Make the effort to climb the volcano. The views accross the bay and You can also get a ferry to Lanzarote for the day if you fancy seeing black volcanic sandy beaches! Personally I would steer clear of the other canary islands! The beaches in Corralejo are stunning white sands!
La Oliva is worth a visit too. You can get a bus from Corralejo. There are windmills and a couple of restaurants. There are also some old ruins and a volcano with a stunning crater.
I fell in love with Corralejo and after a week there I was gutted we had to leave. The plane was cancelled on the way back but Thomas Cook put us in a posh hotel (barcelo caleta de fuste - if i remember correctly) near the airport so we had an extra night for free!
Amazing holiday experience that anyone would love!
