Cala D'Or This beautiful resort is on the east side of Mallorca and grown as a tourist destination rapidly over the last few years. There are great sandy beaches and pristine waters for a nice relaxing day in the sun. in town there are a few bars and cafes where you can enjoy the lively yet not so loud nightlife. Cala d'or is a wonderful resort where you can enjoy a peaceful yet fun holiday.

Cala D'Or, Majorca, Spain Holiday Review - Horrible Fruit Salesmen

They have a serious problem with the fruit sellers on the Cala D'Or beaches. They are too loud and noisy, and make tourists angry. We will never come to Cala D'Or again because of the bad experience with the screaming fruit sellers. They destroy the peace and quiet and should be not allowed to come to the beach anymore!

Cala D'Or, Majorca, Spain Holiday Review - Already booked a return!

Cala D?or is a purpose built resort that really has a bit everything for everyone. True it can be a bit brash & lively but if you are staying away from the centre it?s also quite and relaxing. Built around three small sandy coves the beach space is limited and at peak times you will need to be out early to get a spot / sun bed. The main beach Cala Gran has bars & restaurants shops & toilets and is fringed by pine trees. The sea is quite calm, the beach shelves away gently and has life guards and is quite for safe children being fairly shallow. Boat trips leave here daily to visit the nearby resorts like a sea taxi. There is also a fresh fruit seller who visits the beach singing a song to advertise his wares.
There is plenty bars, takeaways and restaurants around with a wide range of cuisine. Because of competition in the resort prices are more in line with mainland Spain and its quite reasonable eating & drinking out. However, that said the Marina area seemed a little more upmarket with a price to match as well! Generally those bars with live performers are a little more expensive. There?s a typically mix of tribute acts and general middle of the road performers along with the odd karaoke bar.
Generally everyone seems friendly out and about. I felt very safe even late at night unlike some mainland Spanish resorts I?ve holidayed in! There are plenty of supermarkets around although prices seem fairly high compared to other places I?ve been. There is a tourist train that goes round the resort but if you are near the resort centre everything is in easy walking distance. The resort is on a slope however it?s not to steep to walk around easily.
I think Cala D?or is better suited to families with younger children and may be older couples however it does as I said before have a bit something for everyone. We stayed a week and eat out every night and visited different bars and generally had a good time. So if you have older children don?t be put of at all. Would we go back again well, we have already booked!

Cala D'Or, Majorca, Spain Holiday Review - Get the Package

It is best to do a packaged holiday for the Cala d?Or resort because buying everything separately proves too expensive and unsatisfying. In our package we got hotel stay, transportation, tours and discounts on food and attractions. I do advise that if you are on a packaged deal hid your wristband until after you eat so that you are serviced by the waiter straightaway. If they catch sight of the band they might wait until others serve you for fear that they will not receive a tip and please do tip well so that we can eliminate that stigma. A disappointing part of the resort is that there are not that many attractions. Without our package information we would not have known what to do. We ended up spending time on the beach (of course), go karting and traveling around the island. Our hotel was beautiful aesthetically but the service was not that great. For fun we went to the Chic Palace Disco were we met with foreigners and locals. The music was great but the drinks were quite pricy.
