Puerto Pollensa

Set against the backdrop of the Boquer mountain range on the north coast of Mallorca, Puerto Pollensa is perfect for those looking for a quiet resort off the beaten track. Even in the height of the season the sandy beaches that stretch along the sheltered horseshoe-shaped bay remain uncrowded. Most visitors to this sedate resort are families with young children or older couples. The resort has grown up around the scenic fishing port that serves the picturesque old Roman town of Pollensa, situated a few miles inland where sightseeing, particularly on foot, is an interesting way to spend some time. Cafes, restaurants and tourist shops line the promenade along with some elegant hotels, which overlook the wide sandy beach and the bay, dotted with the colourful sails of yachts.

Puerto Pollensa, Majorca, Spain Holiday Review - The Personification of Peace

Submitted by: Taqueria
Date of travel: 07-April-2007

Puerto Pollensa has to be one of the prettiest resorts on the north coast. It gently curves around the bay and stands in front of the Sierra Traumontana Mountains. Puerto Pollensa is the home of server villages and sights. It does not do as much as its neighbors to attract the average tourist bunch put is a great place to carry your family and a close group of old friends. The beaches are natural without the overload of newly brought over sand for an artificial experience. The beach has the sand AND pebbles and is not overrun by night clubs or annoyingly loud drunk foreigners. Puerto Pollensa always had this air of tranquility and relaxation. There were no fancy shows to look at but was simply a place where you can relax completely. Explore a little during the day, go to sleep early and wake up late. It was one of the only times in my life since childhood where I did not have a schedule to follow. We made plans same day and did not have the burden of major responsibility. I hired a car to take a trip around the island and was taken away by the terrain and scenery. The only thing that was unsettling was that we were told to watch for jelly fish but never saw any. This trip was the personification of peace.

Puerto Pollensa, Majorca, Spain Holiday Review - Our Honeymoon

Submitted by: Kelly
Date of travel: 31-January-2007

The prettiest resort on the north coast. I told husband (new one at the time) to surprise me by picking the perfect honeymoon spot. I know that the pressure must have been heavy on the poor guy but he did a great job. The resort was pretty, clean, and looked like the perfect picture out of a honeymoon guide. There were plenty of restaurants and bars and some were even on the water. We ate our first lunch as husband and wife on a boat floating in the water. The beach was lovely and there were often people playing games on the sand. The area was not touristy at all so the hotel staff killed themselves to make sure we were having a great time and we did not hear annoying complaints from fellow guests. To add some spice from our food, relaxation, and romantic fun a member of the staff recommended that we should hire a car to go up to Formentor. That was wonderful advice and we enjoyed every part of a relaxing drive and fun time in Formentor. In the resort it was unique but appreciated to see white sand surrounded by big mountains. We laid on the sand since the sun loungers were expensive but the sand was so very soft that we did not mind. The shopping was nice and cheap so I found many things to bring back to our families. The town was beautiful and quaint and the people were just as nice there as on the resort. Lots of family owned small businesses who offered large quantities of food for small pay. I thanked my husband for weeks for the best honeymoon imaginable.

Puerto Pollensa, Majorca, Spain Holiday Review - Family Time

Nice little resort for the family. We went two years and all aspects were superb. The beach was large and the water was warm. Our family took jogs together and ate most meals together as well (which is very rare for us). There was a mapped out hike through the mountains that was not too long or hard on the bodies. I tripped along one of the paths and my brother and dad had a laugh about it every chance that they got. Our hotel was very pretty and had an attentive staff. The food delightful and a wonderful treat after all of our busy or relaxing days. My mums favorite part of the holiday was the pine walk at dusk. The colors and the climate change at that time of night made her very happy and fall even more in love than she was before.
