Side Side (pronounced 'See-day') is situated on the Mediterranean coast around 75km from Antalya, one of Turkey's largest cities. Side is a wonderful seaside resort which lies on a tiny peninsula 300m wide by 800m long. Despite its small size, it is an extremely popular tourist destination, but it has still managed to retain its strong air of authenticity. This can be attributed to its excellent ancient history and culture – there are a huge number of archaeological and architectural treasures all around Side's winding streets. For those who are not too interested in the history Side has fantastic beaches, water sports and trendy bars to enjoy. |

Side, Antalya, Turkey Holiday Review - Good old Side

It has an odd name but was home of holiday bliss. Lots of restaurants, bars, shops right across the street from where we were staying. Hotel Barut Hemera was the hotel that we booked. Great choice because it was nice and clean. The beach is a walk away ( a half hour walk away) but we opted to eat dinner and lunches there when we went. This way we convinced ourselves that we were walking off the food that we just ate. There were many narrow streets stuffed to the brim with shops and restaurants. The food was great and people we quite polite even in long queues or big crowds. The beach had truly golden sand and shallow water. Not much to do at night but there were nice restaurants and bars to spend good time in. Very low key and calm holiday.

We have been visiting different resorts all over Turkey for the last couple of years and Side was our recent destination which I can tell you was well worth it. Side has got that wonderful blend of activities and spots for relaxation that most people look for in there holiday. Make sure you visit the amphitheatre which is a huge attraction and also the Temple of Apollo will spark your interest. Obviously as you would expect there is some great beaches to enjoy a relaxing time at.
