Chamonix

The French ski resort of Chamonix lies in the Haute-Savoie department, at the foot of Mont Blanc. The resort is famous for the Aiguille du Midi cable car which takes visitors up to 3845m for a breathtaking view of the French, Swiss and Italian Alps. Chamonix caters for a range of ability levels, from intermediate to expert, and its dedicated snowboard parkis a magnet for snowboarders. Ski lifts are spread around the resort and there is also a bus which is free to Mont Blanc pass holders. Chamonix has a vibrant après-ski scene and has developed quite a party-town reputation but there are still plenty of cosy venues for those wanting a quiet night. Ski holidays to Chamonix also offer many off-piste activites including swimming, tennis, squash, wall climbing, dancing, going to the cinema, paragliding, and lots of shopping.
