Ski Holidays Insurance
Are You Covered?
Skiing and snowboarding are becoming more and more popular holiday
activities with millions of British holidaymakers hitting the slopes
of Europe,
the US
and Canada
each year. If you are planning to be one of them, you will need
to make sure you have the right travel insurance to ensure that
any mishaps on the slopes do not become holiday nightmares. You
should always travel with comprehensive ski travel insurance. It
is even more vital to be covered if you are going to be doing winter
sports on holiday as you are more likely to become injured on the
slopes than you would lying on a beach in Malaga!
If you are planning a ski holiday in Europe,
the most important document to have with you is a European Health
Insurance Card (EHIC). This has replaced the old E111 form and will
allow you to receive necessary healthcare as a result of accident
or illness whilst you are in the EEA (European Economic Area).
Click
here for more information on and an online application form for
the EHIC.
Please Note:
· The EEA does not include Switzerland
· The EHIC does not replace the need for travel insurance
to cover your everyday costs if you are in hospital or have to return
home early or later than planned.
For those of you that are visiting the pistes of Switzerland,
the US,
Canada
or anywhere else in the world, ski travel insurance is vital. Make
sure your ski insurance covers the part of the world you are visiting.
Some ski travel insurance policies do not cover the US
and Canada.
You should also check that your policy will fly you home in an emergency.
Winter sports insurance should cover skiing and snowboarding but
check to see if you are covered for tobogganing, ice skating, off-piste
skiing, cross-country skiing, sledging and any other activities
you intend to enjoy on holiday.
The following insurance providers offer comprehensive ski insurance:
The most important thing to remember is to have a fantastic time
on your ski holiday, safe in the knowledge that you are covered
if anything goes wrong.
