Weather
Although warm and humid all year round Thailand has three main seasons. From March to May the temperatures really sizzle, reaching 36C. June to September is the rainy season. October to February is cooler but still pleasantly warm. During the winter season the temperature and climate is especially attractive in the south and around the coast making Thailand an ideal cheap winter getaway for westerners around this time. Peak day time temperatures rarely drop below 30C all year round.

Getting There

Bangkok is 11 hours from London. The major airports are Bangkok’s Don Muang International Airport about 25km north of Bangkok and the new Suvarnabhumi Airport. Non-stop shuttle buses go between the hotels, railway station and airport. Thai Airways connect from Bangkok to all major cities and tourist areas in Thailand. There are also good bus and coach networks. Cars are available for hire in Bangkok and elsewhere.


Main Resorts & Destinations
There are hundreds of idyllic resorts and destinations to choose from in Thailand. Here are just a few ideas to wet your appetite.

Bangkok
Bangkok, known as the Venice of The East on account of its canal networks. This huge, bright sprawling city is a thriving metropolis but it is also an ancient city complete with temples and shrines and spectacular history.

Gulf of Bangkok
Gulf of Bangkok offers a number of beautiful beach resorts. In the Eastern Gulf, Pattaya is one of the most popular. Bang Saen is a quieter option as well as Ko Samet, a pretty island, reached by a short boat trip from Rayong.

Phuket
Phuket competes with Pattaya as the number one beach resort in Thailand. The island of Phuket is attached by a causeway to the mainland. 
Phang Nga Bay - Easily reached from Phuket this bay boasts one of the world's most stunning coastal landscapes.

Ko Samui
Ko Samui, a former backpacker resort, is now more upmarket and benefits from an airport offering regular flights to and from Bangkok.

 

 

Ko Phi Phi Islands
Two islands just a short distance from Phuket, including the larger Ko Phi Phi Don, with pristine white beaches and rainforests and Ko Phi Phi Leh which was the setting for the Hollywood movie, The Beach.

Erawan National Park
In Kanchanaburu province this area of outstanding beauty includes the spectacular Erawan Waterfall, which has seven tiers.

Phu Kra Dueng National Park, Isan
The sole mountain at the centre of this park is usually covered in mist. Visitors often hike to the top and enjoy the superb views.

Thong Nai Pan Noi, Ko Pha Ngan
One of Thailand’s most impressive and idyllic beaches. Koh Phangan has over 250 resorts to choose from.

Ao Vong Duan, Ko Samet
Known As Island With Sand Like Crushed Crystal. Includes amazing beaches in a very pretty half moon bay.

Ao Nang, Krabi
Limestone towers jut up from the sea at this spectacular beachfront.Fuerteventura, with its impressive sand dunes, are also popular.
